An education agent assists with course enrolment and student visa applications, but is not registered with MARA and cannot give immigration advice for other visa types. A MARA-registered migration agent can help you plan beyond your studies — the 485 graduate visa, skilled migration onshore, partner visa, etc.
What's the Genuine Student requirement?
From 23 March 2024 the old GTE (Genuine Temporary Entrant) requirement was replaced with the Genuine Student requirement plus an extended questionnaire at lodgement. Migratio's free guide covers what's expected.
What does MARA-registered mean?
MARA (the Office of the Migration Agents Registration Authority, sitting within Home Affairs as OMARA) is the federal regulator for Australian migration agents. Registration requires a Graduate Diploma in Australian Migration Law and Practice, ongoing CPD, professional indemnity insurance, and adherence to a binding Code of Conduct. Every agent listed on Migratio is checked against the public MARA register when our data is refreshed — always verify current registration on the official OMARA register.
