Find the right Australian immigration form

The Department of Home Affairs publishes hundreds of numbered forms, and knowing which one applies is half the battle. This finder covers the forms migrants actually encounter — Form 80 (character assessment), Form 888 (relationship witness statements), Forms 1022 and 1023 (correcting or updating an application), Form 956 (appointing a registered migration agent), the partner forms 47SP and 40SP, citizenship forms, bridging visa forms and more. Every entry explains what the form is for, who completes it, and links to the official Home Affairs PDF. Every form is free to download from Home Affairs — never pay a website for a form. Where we have a plain-English guide, it's linked. General information only; a MARA-registered agent can advise on your situation.

Common questions

Are Australian immigration forms free?

Yes — every Department of Home Affairs form is free to download from immi.homeaffairs.gov.au. Some third-party websites charge for the same PDFs or for 'editable' versions. Never pay for a form: the official download is always free and always current.

Do I need a migration agent to lodge a form?

No. Any applicant can complete and lodge Home Affairs forms themselves, and many do. Where an agent helps is complex situations — character issues, prior refusals, inconsistencies across earlier applications — because answers on forms like Form 80 must line up with everything the Department already holds. Only MARA-registered agents can lawfully charge for migration assistance in Australia.

Paper form or ImmiAccount?

Most applications now lodge online through ImmiAccount, and several paper forms have online equivalents that collect the same information. Some processes — parts of the parent visa program, certain notifications — still use paper. Each entry in the finder notes when a form is usually handled online now.

How do I know a form is current?

Home Affairs updates forms periodically and old versions can be rejected. Always download from the official form-listing link at the time you need it rather than reusing a copy saved months earlier, and check the version date printed on the form.
