What this visa is
Subclass 485 lets recent graduates of an Australian institution stay and work in Australia after finishing their qualification. There are two streams: Post-Higher Education Work (for higher-education degrees) and Post-Vocational Education Work (for trade qualifications). Length of stay depends on the degree level and city of study.
Where applications go wrong
485 is time-critical — you need a positive skills assessment for the relevant occupation, IELTS-equivalent English at the right level, and you must apply within 6 months of completing studies.
