The National Innovation visa (subclass 858, formerly Global Talent) is a permanent visa for people with an internationally-recognised record of exceptional achievement in a target sector — currently fields including agri-food, energy, health, defence, advanced manufacturing, financial services, and digitech. You need a nominator with a national reputation in your field.

858 is invitation-based and competitive. Acceptance into the Expression of Interest stage hinges on demonstrating exceptional achievement at international standard, current ability to attract a high salary, and being prominent in your field.
