ROL — Regional Occupation List. Occupations on the ROL are limited to the regional provisional visas — mainly the Skilled Work Regional 491 and Skilled Employer Sponsored Regional 494.

Processing priority

Security Consultant isn't in any of the ANZSCO groups that Directions 121 and 122 list for the priority sectors. Security Consultant is a VETASSESS Group D occupation, requiring a qualification comparable to an AQF Certificate III or higher, assessed through the family's standard four-pathway structure. VETASSESS's highly relevant fields of study for the occupation are security and risk management and security operations — advisory and design work, distinct from front-line guarding or patrol duties. ANZSCO describes the occupation as advising clients on security requirements and recommending and designing security specifications, at Skill Level 3.

ANZSCO flags the occupation “Registration or licensing may be required” — the softer of ANZSCO's two licensing flags — but which state or territory licence class actually covers security consultant work, and under what conditions, could not be confirmed from any primary regulator source reachable for this research; every state security-licensing page attempted returned an access block or a moved URL. Do not assume the VETASSESS outcome alone clears anyone to practise.

An honest read on this pathway

With Regional Occupation List membership only, Security Consultant reaches subclass 494 alone — the narrowest visa ceiling in this family. Combined with an unresolved state licensing question, the honest picture is that the migration pathway is genuinely open at Certificate III level, but the professional side of actually operating as a security consultant in a given state needs its own, separate check with that state's regulator before treating the VETASSESS outcome as the whole story.
