Seeing 'System is currently unavailable' on ImmiAccount? That message is almost always your browser, not a government outage.

The Department's own advice: clear your browser's temporary files, cookies, browsing history and download history. Do it a few times, then try again.

A different message, 'Service Temporarily Unavailable', means you've hit a scheduled maintenance window: Mondays midnight to 4 am, Wednesdays 5 am to 8 am, weekends 2 pm Saturday to 9 am Sunday.

The longest a scheduled outage runs is 24 hours. Still showing after that? Clear your cache instead of waiting. Heavy traffic shows a different message entirely: high volumes of transactions.

Get your username or password wrong 5 times and ImmiAccount locks you out for 60 minutes. The forgotten-password link plus your secret questions can unlock it immediately.

Card payments can fail with messages like Declined, Referred, or Invalid Card Number. The fix is the same for all of them: re-enter your details, try a different card, or check with your bank.

A separate message, 'Error Performing Card Authentication', means your bank is declining that extra security step — not the Department. Still failing? PayPal or BPAY are alternatives.

Blank pages and buttons that don't respond are usually the browser too. Try Chrome, Edge or Firefox, disable extensions, and make sure cookies and JavaScript are both enabled.

The one mistake to avoid: if your bank already processed a payment but your status hasn't changed to Received, don't pay again. Check your bank statement first.

Still stuck? The Global Service Centre is on 131 881 within Australia, or plus 61 2 6196 0196 from outside, Monday to Friday, 9 am to 5 pm your local time.
