Transcript
Perth is a 3 to 4 hour flight from Jakarta — closer to Indonesia than most of Australia is to itself.
The Work and Holiday visa, subclass 462, is open to Indonesians aged 18 to 30 — a pathway many neighbouring countries don't have.
It needs at least 2 years of completed tertiary study, functional English at an IELTS average of 4.5, and costs AUD 840 for the first visa.
The first visa runs 12 months at AUD 840. A second or third visa costs AUD 1,000 each, after 88 days of specified regional work.
The student visa itself costs AUD 2,500, and Home Affairs' living-costs benchmark is AUD 29,710 a year. Tuition and OSHC vary by provider, so check their current published fees.
Nursing registration needs an IELTS score of 7.0. On a student visa, the subclass 485 needs lodging within 6 months of finishing the course.
An employer-sponsored subclass 482 costs AUD 4,015 across every stream, with a path to permanent residence through the subclass 186 after 2 to 3 years.
A regular apostille costs 200,000 rupiah and takes up to 3 working days; same-day costs 500,000. Police clearance, the SKCK, has a fixed fee of 30,000 rupiah.
Over 100,000 Indonesian-born people already live in Australia.
Perth sits 3 to 4 hours from Jakarta and stays warm enough for an easy adjustment; Melbourne's winters run 5 to 15 degrees, cooler than most Indonesians are used to.
The most common mistake: leaving the Kemendikbudristek support letter too late. It can take 2 to 4 weeks to arrive, and it's required before the 462 application.
