Most UK documents for an Australian visa need one thing — and it's not an apostille. It's a certified copy.
Lived in the UK for 12 months or more in the past 10 years? You need an ACRO police certificate.
ACRO's own published fee schedule lists $55 for its standard service, about 12 working days, or $95 for a 4-working-day premium service.
ACRO itself sets no fixed validity period — how recent it needs to be is up to the authority assessing it. And ACRO posts the certificate: there's no digital delivery.
The health exam runs through a Bupa panel clinic, booked with a HAP referral from ImmiAccount. Applicants aged 11 and over need a chest X-ray.
A replacement full birth certificate from the GRO costs $12.50, plus a $3.50 search fee if you don't have a reference number — sent in 4 days with one, or 15 working days without.
A standard paper apostille costs $45 plus courier, and usually takes up to 25 working days. An e-Apostille is faster: $35, up to 2 working days. But it can't be used for GRO or ACRO documents.
HEDD verifies UK degrees across 471 recognised institutions, with checks starting from $14 — but it's your assessing body or employer that raises the check, not you.
Engineers Australia, ACS, and VETASSESS each want their own mix of certified copies, transcripts, and employer references for a subclass 189, 190, 491, or 482.
Get at least 4 certified copies of each key document — you may need to send them to Home Affairs, your assessing body, and your employer at the same time.
The most common mix-up: a colour scan is not a certified copy. A certified copy is signed, dated, and stamped by an authorised certifier before you scan it.
