VEVO tells you the current, live status of a visa that's already been granted — not why a decision was made, and not anything about an application still being decided.

A VEVO result shows the subclass, grant date, expiry date, and the conditions attached — numbered items like condition 8101 or condition 8105, each with a short description.

Checking your own visa is free, any time. You'll need your passport number and date of birth, plus one of: your visa grant number, TRN, visa evidence number, or ImmiCard number.

The free myVEVO app does the same lookup from your phone. It's available on Android and iOS, and lets you email or print your details instead of just screenshotting them.

An employer or landlord can't look you up on a whim. They register separately for VEVO Online for Organisations, and need your consent before checking.

Applied for a new visa while your old one was still current? VEVO may show a bridging visa instead — a BVA, BVB, BVC or BVE. That's normal while a decision is pending.

The single biggest cause of VEVO showing nothing, or the wrong details, is a passport that's changed since your visa was granted — a renewal, a replacement, or a new name.

There's no fee to link a new passport to an existing visa — you tell the Department directly, then check again once it's processed.

VEVO doesn't confirm the identity of the person in front of you, doesn't calculate loan or Medicare eligibility, and isn't a skills or character check — it's a status check, nothing more.

A VEVO result is sensitive — share only what's needed, and be wary of anyone messaging you out of the blue asking for your reference numbers. Neither the Department nor a genuine migration agent will ever ask for that.
