Condition 8578 gives you 14 days to tell Home Affairs about a change. Miss it, and it can count against you later.
It's most commonly attached to two visas: the Skilled Work Regional visa, subclass 491, and the Skilled Employer Sponsored Regional visa, subclass 494.
Commonly reportable items include your residential address, email address, phone number, passport details, and your employer's address or work location — though the exact list is set out on your own grant.
Notify the Department in writing within 14 days of the change — commonly through ImmiAccount, which usually updates passport or contact details within a few business days.
The old standalone Form 929 has been retired. Where ImmiAccount can't be used, Home Affairs' New Passport Details or Update contact details web forms take its place.
491 and 494 are tied to living and working in a designated regional area — exactly what a later subclass 191 permanent visa application checks.
A pattern of late or missing notifications can affect how a 191 application assesses your compliance — and in more serious cases, a breach is technically grounds for visa cancellation.
If you think you've missed a 14-day window, or you're unsure what counts as reportable, a MARA-registered migration agent can review your grant conditions and notification history.
