Skills assessment
A positive skills assessment for Internal Auditor comes from:
- Vocational Education and Training Assessment Services (VETASSESS) (official site) · our guide to the VETASSESS process
What the assessment actually involves
VETASSESS places Internal Auditor in skill Group A: a bachelor's degree or higher in a highly relevant field (accounting, commerce, business, with coursework covering risk analysis, business law and organisational structures) plus at least one year of highly relevant post-qualification employment within the last five years, working 20+ hours a week. As a Group A managerial-adjacent occupation, an organisational chart is a required document, and VETASSESS specifically wants supplementary material such as audit plans, an audit charter, or an internal-audit staffing summary.
Where these applications come unstuck
A missing organisational chart, or one that doesn't clearly show the applicant's position against supervisors, subordinates and reporting lines, is a common hold-up. Employment evidence is also scrutinised closely where the applicant's role blends internal audit with broader finance or compliance duties — VETASSESS wants clear evidence internal audit is the applicant's primary function, not one duty among several.
An honest read on this pathway
Internal Auditor carries the full MLTSSL/CSOL visa spread including 189 and 190. The Group A qualification-and-relevant-experience test is achievable for applicants with a genuine audit background, but the organisational chart and supplementary-document expectations add real preparation time.
VETASSESS assesses qualifications and employment separately. Both need documentation that agrees with itself. The Employment History Builder and Document Vault organise each trail before you lodge.
