ROL — Regional Occupation List. Occupations on the ROL are limited to the regional provisional visas — mainly the Skilled Work Regional 491 and Skilled Employer Sponsored Regional 494.

Processing priority
Auctioneer isn't in any of the ANZSCO groups that Directions 121 and 122 list for the priority sectors. Some of the first group is defined by the job rather than the code: a nominated position directly involved in agriculture, aquaculture or fishing, one that directly supports mining, oil and gas or coal production, or one related to defence. Otherwise the application is processed after the priority sectors. What the assessment actually involves
VETASSESS assesses Auctioneer as a Group D occupation, so an AQF Certificate III or higher plus at least one year of highly relevant post-qualification employment in the last five years is the standard route, with the usual VETASSESS trade-off pathways letting extra years of employment offset a less relevant qualification. VETASSESS's own page states registration or licensing IS required for this occupation, phrased as a firm requirement rather than the softer "may be required" wording used elsewhere in this occupation family, and describes the role as selling real estate, goods and livestock by taking competing offers and accepting the highest price.
Where these applications come unstuck
VETASSESS publishes no named field-of-study list for Auctioneer at all — just "a field highly relevant to the nominated occupation," with no worked examples of what qualifies. That leaves an applicant guessing whether a business, real estate or sales-focused qualification counts, with no page to check against. Auctioneer also sits on the Regional Occupation List only, reaching a single visa subclass, so an applicant expecting the same sponsorship access as the higher-reaching codes in this family (Contract Administrator, Insurance Agent) is nominating a considerably narrower pathway.
An honest read on this pathway
The pathway exists and VETASSESS treats the occupation as genuinely distinct from Real Estate Agent or Business Broker, but it reaches only regional nomination, not employer sponsorship or a points-tested visa. Combined with the missing field-of-study detail, an applicant needs to confirm relevance case by case rather than relying on a published list, and should not assume any Australian state's licensing process has been checked here beyond the one page cited.
