What the assessment actually involves
Stock and Station Agent is also a VETASSESS Group D occupation, needing Certificate III or higher plus at least one year of highly relevant employment within the last five years under the standard pathway structure. VETASSESS's own description is specific to rural commerce: providing advice and acting on a client's behalf in the sale and purchase of rural property, livestock, crops and agricultural products and services, which is a materially different day-to-day activity from Auctioneer's sale-by-offer role even though both sit in the same 611 unit group and reach the same single visa.
Where these applications come unstuck
Like Auctioneer, VETASSESS publishes no named field-of-study list for this occupation — only "a field highly relevant," with nothing further stated on the page. Licensing is worded as registration or licensing "MAY be required," softer than Auctioneer's unqualified "is required," which is easy to misread as this occupation being licence-free rather than simply less consistently regulated across jurisdictions. NSW's real-estate mutual-recognition licence explicitly bundles stock and station work in with real estate, business broking and property management under one licence class, which does not match VETASSESS treating it as its own ANZSCO code.
An honest read on this pathway
This is a genuinely rural-commerce occupation, not a generalist sales role, and applicants whose overseas work was in urban real estate or retail sales should not assume it fits. It reaches the Regional Occupation List only, one visa subclass, and the missing field-of-study guidance means relevance has to be argued case by case rather than checked against a published list.
