If you're looking for Form 929 to update your address or passport with Home Affairs, it's been retired. Here's what replaced it.

Form 929 used to cover two changes only: a new residential address, or new passport details, for both pending applicants and people who already held a visa.

The old form's download link on the Home Affairs site now redirects to a change-in-situation hub. Neither the passport page nor the contact-details page behind it mentions a Form 929.

For a new passport, the quickest path is ImmiAccount. Log in, select your application, select Update details, then Change of passport details, enter the new details, and submit.

Home Affairs links the new passport within 3 business days. If ImmiAccount can't be used for your case, the New Passport Details web form takes 14 days instead.

ImmiAccount can't be used in a few cases: the application can't be imported, the travel document is a Titre de Voyage or Certificate of Identity, a partner visa application isn't visible, the application ID begins with IRIS, or there's a change of sex, gender, or date of birth.

Two exceptions on top of that. Electronic Travel Authority, subclass six oh one, holders apply for a new ETA instead — it can't be transferred to a new passport. And a new Australian passport uses a separate process entirely.

For an address or other contact details, ImmiAccount updates instantly. If the application can't be imported, the Update contact details form takes 14 days.

Why this matters mid-application: Australian visas are electronically linked to a specific passport number, not to the person generally. Get it granted against the wrong passport, and it can cause problems at the border.

One form is still exactly where it was: Form 1022, for a broader set of changed circumstances at once — a passport renewal alongside a name change, for example.

The mistake to avoid: searching for a PDF called Form 929 and trying to email or post it. That path doesn't exist anymore. Update details in ImmiAccount, or use the web form Home Affairs points you to.
