What the assessment actually involves
Real Estate Agent is a VETASSESS Group D occupation with a named field of study, Real Estate and Property, and VETASSESS's own page states plainly that Real Estate Agents in Australia need to hold a Real Estate Agent's licence, so applicants with Australian employment may be asked for licence details as part of the assessment itself, not just as a separate post-visa step. The page also explicitly anticipates self-employment, noting agents "may work for an agency or operate their own real estate business."
Where these applications come unstuck
Real Estate Agent excludes Property Manager, Body Corporate Manager and Business Broker by name, and reaches only one visa subclass where Property Manager — a role many applicants would consider more junior — reaches three. Despite the page explicitly anticipating self-employed agents, it carries no itemised self-employment evidence checklist of the kind published for the 511xxx administrator codes, so a self-employed agent should not assume the same accountant-letter-plus-invoices evidence bundle automatically applies here.
An honest read on this pathway
This is the highest-profile title in the family but not the widest pathway — it reaches the same single visa subclass as the licensed, senior roles beside it, and less than the two unlicensed roles working under supervision. State licensing is a real and separate requirement layered on top of a positive assessment, and it is not addressed uniformly across VETASSESS's own real-estate pages.
